Christmascamp 2024

Christmascamp 2024

Learn to dance ballroom better while improving your body tonus and posture.

And this is how it works:

We start the seminar every morning at 10 a.m. with specific movement exercises according to the Feldenkrais method.

These usually take place while lying on the floor and lead you into your body. Your nervous system learns by paying attention to the mostly small movements, even during the exercises. The breaks between movements and lessons are important components, because this is when the nervous system integrates what it has learned into the movement.

Without a nervous system to control the muscles, no movement is possible. With the help of these exercises, you will learn to target your muscles more precisely and control them more precisely. This will make the movement smoother and your dance performance more finely differentiated. It will also make the movement more effective. You will need less muscle strength and feel less strained, and the technical processes become more precise.

After a long break in which we let our experiences “settle”, we begin to apply them to the simplest movements. Since the human gait is closest to the the dance movement, we start with walking movements. Then we deal with specific walking movements (walking forwards and backwards) in the individual dances and move on to swings, which are a large part of the so-called swing dances. We then learn the application and distribution of these swings with the basic movement of the respective dances. They are very different for the Slow Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Slowfox and Quickstep. In the Tango we have no swing movements at all.

Now we come to the technique of posture and “setting up” the body position and specific movement necessary for dancing so that everything becomes effortless. But the trainer puts “training” before success, and so we try to hold certain postures alone and together, with and without straps, to feel them and to hold them during the movement. With the help of the Tonemeup straps we acquire the necessary strength to straighten the body and to make it easier to feel the connection between posture and body position.

The straps can be used in a variety of ways to train all parts of the body that we need for dancing.

We work every day from 10am to 2pm. Anyone who wants can train for another half hour afterwards.

Please find your own accommodation and bring any necessary food and drinks with you.

If someone would like to arrive earlier, there is the possibility to take private lessons (80€) on December 26, 2024.

Dance Smart – Anne-Lore Zimmermann

For over 17 years I have been organizing dance seminars and training weeks between Christmas and New Year at the Seifert dance school in Salzburg.

Dance Smart – Weeks are not ordinary dance camps where many dance teachers and famous trainers give lectures. With us you will work on the basis of the Feldenkrais method to get to know your instrument, your own body, and find out how it is organized and what habits you bring with you in your own movement. The new knowledge is then used to improve your dance routine or simply to make your everyday movement easier and simpler.

This year we will be using another form of training called “Tone me up”. We will be working with specially developed belts (provided). If you already have one, please bring it with you (www.nnsquare.com).
